Upload Branded News Pages

I don't know who you are:- exiting

What are Branded pages?

When you use the Interest!ALERT SiteNews system, your users can select News stories to read or they can see a list of up to 20 stories in the category they select in a "More News" page. The default Story and More News pages are branded by Interest!ALERT. This branding system accepts a branding page of your design. Your users then see a page that is in keeping with the rest of your site. The page can contain your images and your links. It functions as both the "Story" and "More News" pages. A description below explains how you can create a branded page and how to upload it here.

Branding costs $200.00 per month and you can try it free for 30 days. All Branded Pages are part of the Interest!ALERT Affiliate program.

If you have created a branded page and inserted the Story Javascript clip from below, you can upload your page here.
Otherwise, please read the Instructions for Creating and Uploading.

Branded Page Upload

Select the file to upload, then click the "Upload" button to send it.

Brand file to upload (html or htm):
Note:
  • If you do not see a "Browse..." button, your browser does not support file upload.

    Instructions for Creating and Uploading

    • Build the page according to the specifications outlined below.
    • Add the javascript clips to your page. (see notes below)
    • Load and test the page in your browser.
    • Upload the page to this server.
    • Check, then Accept or Reject the uploaded page.

    Building your Branded page

    Specifications:
The page is approximately 640 pixels wide.
The main body area is at least 340 pixels wide.
It must be a single page. (no separate FrontPage borders)
Images must be fully qualified. (see notes below)
We place a 468x60 Banner Ad at the top of the page. (see notes below).
We place the Story or More News in the Main body area.

    Banner Ad
Add the following piece of code to position the Banner Ad.
    (see the notes below)
    Notes:
You may constrain the 468x60 Banner Ad within a table.
If you create your branding page in Frontpage, you may wish to do so without including the ad banner because to add it may cause problems with the Frontpage standard header code. In this case, do not include this code. The upload system will add the banner at the top of the page after you upload it.

    Main body area
Add the following piece of code to position the Story or More News.
    Notes:
You may constrain the main body area within a table.
You may set the FONT face, size and colour outside of the javascript.

    Layout ideas
    Your Page Header
    Nav Bar Main Body
    Nav Bar Main Body
    Your Page Header
    Main Body
    Notes:
Pages load faster if they are not one big table, so consider breaking up your page.
Your page header could be in one table.
The navgation bar and Main body could be in another table.
Simple is better than complex and text is much faster than graphics.

    Images and Links
The urls for your images and links must all be fully-qualified because the page will reside on our site but the images will reside on yours, or another accessible site.
    e.g. <IMG SRC=http://excite.com/mesp/images/excite/new_logo-180.gif>
Links like this: <IMG SRC=/images/excite/new_logo-180.gif> will not work
    - unless you add a BASE tag at the top of your page:
    <BASE HREF=http://excite.com/mesp>
(If all else fails, we can store the images for a fee.)

    Testing

    • Build your Branded page
    • Test your links and images
    • Position the Story/More News javascript call
    • Optionally, position the Banner Ad javascript call
    • Verify the story is correctly placed
    • Upload your branded page

    Upload

    • Click the "Browse" button and select your page
    • Click the "Upload" button and wait for it to upload
    • Verify your links and images online
    • Verify the story is correctly placed
    • Accept or Reject the page
When you are satisfied that your page works, accept it. Then try viewing a story from your site. You will notice the story now has your brand.
